IFS Internal Family Systems
IFS is an evidence base model of psychotherapy that offers a clear, non-pathologizing, and empowering method of understanding human problems, as well as an innovative and enriching philosophy that propitiate improving general functioning and well-being. A basic premise of IFS is that the "self" is not a single, monolithic persona, but a "family" or system of different parts or sub-personalities, each with its own sometimes antagonistic memories, viewpoints, desires, and agendas. "Parts" interact internally in similar to ways that people interact. In this approach, all parts are welcome and valuable, and have good intentions to serve a positive role. Parts become extreme and can be "burdened" and/or destructive because of life traumas. A primary goal of IFS is to release parts form their extreme roles.
